On the occasion of the recent Workshop “Spain’s Presidency of the Council of the EU: A Strategic Assessments”, Miguel Otero-Iglesias, Senior Analyst at the Elcano Royal Institute, discussed with Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive of the European Policy Centre (EPC), on the most relevant aspects of the Spanish Presidency and the Strategic Agenda, as mentioned in the ‘Granada Declaration’.

“The Spanish Presidency has done rather well in challenging circumstances. Challenging, of course, internationally within Europe but also domestically”, says Zuleeg.  It has moved along the discussion on some of the crucial files, but the big questions are still on the table, like economic security, open strategic autonomy, institutional reforms and policies to make enlargement possible.
