Corporate Governance

Created in 2001 as a private foundation, the organisational structure of the Elcano Royal Institute balances public and private interests and promotes the exchange of ideas in a pluralistic and independent environment, accommodating diverse political and social sensibilities.

The highest governing body is its Board of Trustees, under the honorary presidency of His Majesty the King. It also has an Executive Committee, a Scientific Council and an Advisory Council (as consultative bodies), and a group of Collaborating Entities.
