Venue: Círculo de Bellas Artes
Tuesday, 15th September 2026, from 12:00 to 13:45 h. CEST (UTC+2). Venue: Cine Estudio del Círculo de Bellas Artes (c/ del Marqués de Casa Riera nº 4, Madrid).
The documentary “The dream of integration: 40 years of Spain in the European Union” commemorates forty years of Spain’s membership of the European Union through the testimonies of the five prime ministers who have led the country during this period –Felipe González, José María Aznar, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Mariano Rajoy and Pedro Sánchez– as well as Spain’s two most recent European Commissioners, Miguel Arias Cañete and Josep Borrell.
Based on interviews conducted by the Elcano Royal Institute, it offers a unique opportunity to revisit the defining milestones of these four decades and to reflect on the elements of change and continuity that have shaped Spain’s enduring commitment to European integration, as well as on the role the country seeks to play in Europe’s future.
The preview screening of the documentary took place on 15 September at the Círculo de Bellas Artes and is available on our website and YouTube channel.
