Virginia Cinelli

Virginia Cinelli was Project Manager at the Elcano Royal Institute, mainly focused in the security sector (project manager for the J-SAFE Project and communications manager for the MINDb4ACT Project). She has a BA in International Relations and Political Science from LUISS Guido Carli University (Italy), and an MA in Terrorism and International Security from King’s College London University (UK). She has also studied Intelligence and National Security Studies at the University of Florence (Italy), gaining a grant for the best paper of the course. Moreover, she has a background on communication and external relations. She previously worked as Communication Officer at the Italian NGO Cospe Onlus, in Florence, and during her studies she completed four internships in the communication sector working as journalist in Italy, Spain and Belgium.


Research areas: terrorism and radicalization, especially in the phenomenon of radicalization in prisons, in addition to issues of security and defence related to it (irregular migrations, geopolitics of the Middle East, jihadist evolution in Europe).
