Simon Pfluger is a specialist in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and international carbon markets with over five years of focused experience including Article 6 advisory, mitigation activity development and carbon market policy.
He recently founded his own specialised Article 6 advisory boutique (Article6Advisory.org) and leads the International (Article 6) Carbon Markets work at the sustainable finance and climate policy think tank Climate & Company. He also serves as Senior Advisor at CarbonWise Consulting, which authorised one of the first Article 6 projects globally.
He is among the first 25 Article 6.4 Expert Reviewers appointed by the UNFCCC Supervisory Body Mechanism (SBM) at its 20th meeting –one of the most technical roles in the global carbon market–. He observes the UNFCCC negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement (Art. 6) since COP26-30 inside the negotiation rooms.
He is not only an expert for the classical offsetting use case of carbon credits but has been leading a large project on climate contributions and researching ever since.
He holds two MSc in Management (Economics) & Technology (Energy Technology) and Politics (Climate Policy) & Technology (Renewable Energy) from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he conducted field research on Article 6 implementation in Ghana and Namibia.
