María Camila Gutiérrez

María Camila Gutiérrez is a Research Assistant on the CAMINO Project (Horizon Europe) at the Elcano Royal Institute.

She is a member of the Klimaforum Latinoamérica Network and lecturer in International Affairs at several Spanish institutions.

Her recent publications include “La Doctrina Social de la Iglesia frente al desafío ambiental” (with J. Martínez Serrats, Cauriensia. Revista anual de ciencias eclesiásticas, 2024); “Reconfiguración geopolítica y las nuevas dinámicas migratorias: retos y respuestas en la gestión migratoria europea” (in Europa y el escenario internacional ante el fenómeno migratorio: retos, oportunidades y respuestas, 2025) and “Cómo hacer divulgación del cambio climático en el aula de clase” (en Mentes y mundos. Una exploración desde el conocimiento humano, 2025).

She holds an MA in International Development Cooperation from the University of Salamanca and is a PhD candidate in Economy and Government at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), where her research focuses on the impact of climate migration on development. She holds a BA in International Relations from Universidad del Rosario (Colombia).

Her research interests include climate vulnerability, migration, development, sustainability and governance.
