ABOUT MIGUEL

Miguel Ángel Fernández-Palacios is Ambassador of Spain to Italy.

He was previously appointed Ambassador Permanent Representative of Spain to the North Atlantic Council. Previously he was Ambassador of Spain to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ambassador of Spain to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative Observer to the African Union. He has been posted to the Spanish embassies in Algiers, The Hague, Tegucigalpa, and the Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union.

In Madrid, he has served in the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence as Director General of the Cabinet of the Minister and in the Congress of Deputies as Director General of the Cabinet of the Presidency.

He holds a PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and entered the diplomatic career in 1994. He holds a variety of national and foreign decorations such as the Grand Cross of Naval Merit with white badge (2006), the Grand Cross of Aeronautical Merit with white badge (2015) and the Grand Cross of Military Merit with white badge (2022).
