In a context of intensifying geopolitical rivalry, the energy transition has become a key arena of strategic competition among major powers. China is leading in critical technologies and raw materials, the United States is redefining its industrial policy, and the European Union faces the challenge of upholding its climate ambition without undermining either its competitiveness or its strategic autonomy.
This joint event, organised by the Elcano Royal Institute and the Naturgy Foundation, will bring together leading international experts to discuss how to align trade and industrial policies with a competitive decarbonisation pathway. Joined by sector specialists, we will examine the transformative potential of the European Clean Industrial Deal, the future of industrial policy in the US and China, and the prospects for both cooperation and rivalry across decarbonised value chains.
