Twenty-five years after the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, in a changing and fragmented geopolitical context, with a transition from a rules-based world order, in which armed conflicts are multiplying, exacerbating and prolonging, the Women, Peace and Security Agenda faces ever-greater challenges.

On the one hand, the erosion of democracy and the questioning of global norms promoting gender equality and women’s rights in some countries and multilateral institutions weaken the relevance of this Agenda. On the other hand, geopolitical interests and new security priorities, far from being an opportunity to strengthen this Agenda, seem in some cases to have the opposite effect, minimizing its importance and effectiveness, if not questioning its validity.

How can we maintain our commitment to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda? How can we highlight its positive impacts on conflict prevention and peace processes?
