Thursday, 5 March 2026, from 11:00 to 14:00h. Venue: Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid (c/ Claudio Coello no. 98, Madrid).
In the digital age, disinformation poses a growing threat to open political systems, which rely on open and reliable information. The widespread use of social media and the increasingly crisis-prone international environment, has amplified the speed and scale of disinformation campaigns, making them more difficult to detect and counter. Addressing this challenge requires multilateral cooperation.
In this context, Japan and the EU are natural counterparts, as like-minded partners with advanced digital ecosystems and increasingly interconnected security environments. The 2024 EU-Japan Security and Defence Partnership includes a specific commitment to address disinformation, creating important momentum for deeper collaboration. Building on this framework, the seminar will explore concrete policy avenues to strengthen EU-Japan cooperation in tackling disinformation.
