According to this year edition of the State of the World’s Human Rights, ‘a global justice gap is being made worse by power politics despite a landmark year for international justice’. The report documents human rights issues of concern to Amnesty International during 2010, in 159 countries and territories around the world.

The Wise Pen Team final report to EDA Steering board – published on 24 April 2010- highlights the need to improve European security by integrating maritime policy making, sharing information more effectively and transparently and coordinating a collective response to security challenges. The team is composed of Vice Admirals Fernando del Pozo, Anthony Dymock, Lutz Feldt, Patrick Hebrard, Ferdinando Sanfelice di Monteforte.

The VI EU - Latin America and the Caribbean Summit -held on 18 May in Madrid (Spain), adopted this declaration titled ‘Towards a new stage in the bi-regional partnership: innovation and technology for sustainable development and social inclusion’. The annex includes the EU-LAC Joint Action Plan.

The Reflection Group on the Future of the EU 2030 presented its report to the European Council on 8 May, as requested by the Council at its meeting in Brussels on 14 December 2007. Presented by the former Spanish Prime Minister Felipe González, the report analyses the challenges that are likely to face the EU in 2030 and how to address them.

According to the recent report on FDI in Latin America and the Caribbean, ‘despite the widespread drop in FDI throughout the region in 2009, the level achieved is the fifth highest in history’. Published by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the report focuses on three areas: a regional overview of FDI in 2009 and case studies of the automobile and iron and steel industries.
