The first Transnational Organized Crime Threat Assessment -published by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime- aims to fill a knowledge gap and pave the way for future world crime reports. The report analyses a range of key transnational crime threats like human trafficking, migrant smuggling, the illicit heroin and cocaine trades, cybercrime, maritime piracy and trafficking in environmental resources, firearms and counterfeit goods.

The EU Heads of State and Government adopted the new 10-year strategy for jobs and for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth at the meeting on 17 June in Brussels. Also, the document states that Iceland meets the political criteria for joining the EU and that membership talks should be opened. Regarding the enlargement of the eurozone, Estonia fulfils all convergence requirements and should be ready to adopt the common currency on 1 January 2011.
