The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) published this annual report as part of a continuing effort to promote informed discussion of emerging market and policy issues. This year edition offers an assessment of agricultural markets covering cereals, oilseeds, sugar, meats, milk and dairy products over the period 2008 to 2017.

The seventh edition of the African Economic Outlook (AEO) – an annual report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) - is focused on technical skills development. The AEO reviews the recent economic situation, the likely short-term evolution and the social and political context of selected African economies.

The latest rankings of the Global Peace Index (GPI) highlights that most countries in the world are performing better against key measures of peacefulness compared with last year. The GPI is composed by 24 indicators ranging from a nations level of military expenditure to its relations with neighbouring countries and the level of respect for human rights. This year the Index has been expanded to rank 140 countries according to their relative peacefulness.

According to the UN Secretary-General’s report to the Security Council –published on 9 May- the security situation throughout Darfur remains extremely volatile. The report covers significant developments during the month of April 2008, including the security and humanitarian situation in Darfur. It also provides an update on the Darfur political process.

The recent edition of the Global Information Technology Report highlights the top ten of the most networked economies in the world. Denmark leads the ranking followed by Sweden and Switzerland. The Republic of Korea (9) and, to a lesser extent, the United States (4) post the most notable improvements.

Latin America and the Caribbean received record levels of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2007, with inflows surpassing the US$ 100 billion mark for the first time ever, according to the latest report of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The US Secretary of State provides, by 30 April of each year, a full and complete report on terrorism with regard to those countries and groups meeting criteria set forth in the legislation to Congress. Beginning with the report for 2004, it replaced the previously published Patterns of Global Terrorism.
