Julia Choucair Vizoso
Senior Research Fellow
Julia Choucair Vizoso is Senior Research Fellow at the Elcano Royal Institute, and an independent scholar and translator. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University, and an M.A. in Arab Studies/B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. She has served as Vice Chair of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of California, Berkeley (2016-19), Fellow at Stanford University (2014-16), and as Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C., where she was also Editor-in-Chief of the bilingual monthly Sada. She is a native speaker of Arabic, English, and Spanish, and proficient in French.
Research areas: politics of the Arab world, political economy, political ecology/climate change, and international relations.
