Importancia estratégica

One of the Elcano Royal Institute’s priorities is to establish links with leading European and American research networks, not only as an aid to research but also as a means to assist the flow and dissemination of information.

List of International Networks

The Elcano Royal Institute is currently a member of the following international research networks:


The Atlantic Council of The United States

Red Europea de Información sobre Relaciones Internacionales y Estudios Regionales (EINIRAS)
An association of European research institutions working with information and documentation on international relations in research and political practice. The long-term objective of EINIRAS is to establish a common European database on international relations and area studies. The short-term objectives include the expansion of practical cooperation and the exchange of information, bibliographical data, and publications.

International Relations and Security Network (ISN)
The ISN's mission is to promote global security and cooperation by collecting, managing, and sharing specialized information for the international relations and security community. The ISN achieves this through the use of information and communication technology. Based in Zurich, Switzerland, at the Center of Security Studies (CSS). The Elcano Royal Institute is a principal partner of this network.

European Policy Institutes Network (EPIN)
A network of some of the world’s leading think-tanks devoted to analysing, debating and designing policies for Europe, EPIN’s aim is to contribute to the debate on the future of Europe.

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS)
The UK-based IISS studies international strategic issues for politicians, diplomats, foreign affairs analysts, the military, defence commentators, journalists, academics and the informed public. The Elcano Royal Institute is a corporate member.

EuroMeSCo: (Euro-Mediterranean Study Commission)
EuroMeSco is a network of independent research institutes and academic centres specialising in foreign policy analysis and research into security issues, from 27 countries on both shores of the Mediterranean. Fifteen institutes and academic centres, among them the Elcano Royal Institute, are observers.

TEPSA
An independent research network composed of national research institutions from all member states of the European Union specialising in European and international affairs. TEPSA’s aim is to provide and strengthen high quality international research on European integration in order to stimulate discussion on policies and political options for Europe. The Elcano Royal Institute is TEPSA’s member institute for Spain.

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)
The Elcano Royal Institute holds annual bilateral meetings with the CSIS, based in Washington DC.
